Nurturing a Culture of Excellence

by Andrea N. F.

Organizations thrive best under the influence of a good and strong organizational culture. Such culture is unique to an organization and it guides them closer towards its goal, driving it to achieve those. Therefore, companies must be able to acknowledge their need to develop their own organizational culture. This is also true in sales and customer service.

In general, the trend in research has been supportive of the positive relationship between organizational culture and job performance. However, Boyce, Nieminen, Gillespie, Ryan and Denison (2015) explored the causality behind this observed connection. The data used for their study was taken from 95 franchise car dealerships collected for more than 6 years. The results have shown that organizational culture appears to be a reliable predictor of customer satisfaction ratings and actual car sales.

The road to having a successful and triumphant organizational sales culture starts with knowing what aspects of your organization to underscore, improve, and actualize. The processes involved in having a conducive organizational sales culture may not be the easiest out there, but it’s certainly worth it.

The following are just some of the ways you can step up your game:

1. Have a Goal and Make It Clear
As with any other tasks, it is important to have a clear objective and general direction in mind.  Also, make it clear and brief, as possible. The simpler it is, the easier your employees will remember and be able to abide with what you all want to achieve.

2. Communicate
The importance of having an excellent communication channel cannot be stressed enough. Even if you have a good plan and highly efficient people, things will not go smoothly if misunderstanding will ensue due to lack of proper communication.

3. Lead and Maintain by Setting an Example
Make your organizational culture flow naturally as possible by leading an example. This way, things won’t feel forced, and the culture will trickle throughout your whole team.

Increasing your knowledge on how organizational culture moves the business world will help you understand where to push and pull. Organizational cultures are dynamic and can be complicated at times, but it is certainly a quintessential part of organizational success.
